GOOD NEWS FOR JOB SEEKERS! Education Ministry Announces Massive Recruitment of Teachers for KCCA Schools, Reveals Vacancies, Requirements and How to Apply

The Ministry of Education and Sports, through the Education Service Commission (ESC), has announced the recruitment of 92 teachers and education administrators for government-aided primary schools under the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

The recruitment exercise, unveiled under External Advert No. 1/2026 and Internal Advert No. 1/2026, is aimed at addressing staffing shortages and improving the quality of education in Kampala's public primary schools.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry has confirmed 386 teachers and 150 acting secondary school headteachers on government payroll. (See their names Here and There).

According to the Education Service Commission, the vacancies are open to both new applicants seeking teaching opportunities and existing KCCA education staff looking for promotion and leadership positions.
57 Education Assistant Positions Available

Under the external recruitment programme, the commission is seeking to fill 57 positions for Education Assistants on salary scale U7.

Applicants must possess a Grade III Teaching Certificate, while candidates with a Diploma in Primary Education will have an added advantage. They must also be registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports and appear on the government payroll of a district local government.

The commission stated that applicants should be below 50 years of age.
35 Senior and Leadership Positions

The internal recruitment advert targets serving KCCA education staff and includes 35 vacancies in leadership and senior teaching roles.

The positions include:

8 Headteachers (Primary)

1 Deputy Headteacher (Primary)

22 Senior Education Assistants

4 Officers, Education Services based at KCCA Headquarters

Applicants for headteacher positions must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education and have at least 12 years of teaching experience, including three years as a substantive deputy headteacher.

Deputy headteacher applicants must possess a Diploma in Education and at least nine years of teaching experience.

How to Apply

The Education Service Commission has directed all applicants to submit applications online through the official e-recruitment portal.

Applicants must create an account, upload scanned copies of academic documents, passport photographs, national identification documents and recommendation forms before completing the application process.

The deadline for submission of applications is June 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

The commission emphasized that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews and required to present original documents for verification.

Officials said the recruitment drive forms part of government efforts to strengthen staffing levels in KCCA schools and improve learning outcomes for thousands of pupils in Kampala.

Women and persons with disabilities have been encouraged to apply.
