Organized by Zahara Luyirika, the party’s candidate for the Makindye West parliamentary seat, the rally drew hundreds of enthusiastic supporters who sang, waved red flags, and chanted slogans in support of their party leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
Luyirika described the event as “a protest vote for the people of Makindye demanding better leadership.” She promised to advocate for women, promote inclusive governance, and serve as a voice for communities that have long felt forgotten.
Several flagbearers took turns addressing the crowd, outlining their visions for Kampala’s transformation. Lusagala Bosco, the NUP candidate for Makindye Mayor, called on residents to back what he described as “a new generation of leaders ready to build a new Uganda.”
Eugenia Nassolo, who is vying for the Lubaga South parliamentary seat, pledged to ensure fairness and equal representation.
“Our people in Kampala deserve their fair share of national development,” she said, urging voters to support the NUP’s mission of empowering ordinary citizens.

Ronald Balimwezo, the party’s candidate for Kampala Lord Mayor, called for unity among opposition supporters. He emphasized that collective action was essential for changing the city’s political landscape.
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, also addressed the gathering. He explained that Bobi Wine was in Rukiga District mobilizing nationwide support but sent his greetings to Kampala supporters.
